Dec 01 2022: Stepping into a world of magical adventure with new Westbourne show

A prince, a princess and the knotty problem of a mysterious monster in a magical maze…there was a real spirit of adventure as pupils at Westbourne School took to the stage with their production of a new musical.

Theseus and the Minotaur - based on the Greek myth about the monster hidden in a Cretan labyrinth - was specially created for pupils at the Broomhill independent school by music teacher Andy Collis.

And audiences for the show, which was presented in the Westbourne Senior Drama Studio, enjoyed the fresh take on the adventures of hero Theseus, helpful princess Ariadne and the half man half bull Minotaur, hidden in a labyrinth under the palace of scheming King Minos.

“I wanted to give the children a new challenge and the story of Theseus was perfect for telling through song,” said Andy.

“We are delighted that our audiences enjoyed the show so much and found so much to appreciate in a production that took one of the classic myths and told it with a contemporary twist.”
