Oct 21 2022: STOS cast take a break from rehearsals to meet The Proclaimers!

THEY’RE rehearsing and they’re fundraising…but members of STOS Theatre Company still managed to fit in a meeting with pop legends The Proclaimers.

STOS will be at Sheffield’s Lyceum from November 15 to 19 with the city premiere of Proclaimers musical Sunshine of Leith.

So when iconic twin musicians Craig and Charlie Reid were on stage at Sheffield City Hall, it provided the perfect opportunity for members of the cast to meet them and discuss the show and its string of Proclaimers hits.

And they also had the chance to tell the brothers how, during rehearsals, the cast have been taking inspiration from chart classic I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles), setting themselves the challenge of walking 500 miles before opening night and raising £500 for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.

“As a teacher I know families who have used Bluebell Wood’s services and benefited from their support,” said cast member Charlotte Musgrove.

“Because I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) is such an important part of Sunshine on Leith, I thought it would be good to set the team the challenge of walking 500 miles between us.

“Up to now we’ve managed 325 miles and raised more than £240 but with two more group walks coming up we’re hoping we will be able to hit our £500 target..

“Actually getting to meet Craig and Charlie has really inspired us - they were really lovely and wanted to know all about the show and our fundraising for Bluebell Wood.”
