Oct 04 2022: Bagpipe masterclass comes to Sheffield this October

INTERNATIONALLY acclaimed bagpipe teacher Neil Clark will bring a special musical masterclass to Sheffield this month.

Neil, who is one of the leading teachers of the Great Highland Bagpipe, will be at Sheffield’s Victoria Hall at 7pm on Friday, October 14.

It will be a rare opportunity, outside of Scotland, to hear him workshop live with specially selected local pipers on the technical and musical aspects of performing and playing the bagpipe.

The audience will also see Neil give feedback and tips as he workshops the participants and guides them through suggested improvements, based on his many years of playing and experience.

The session is being brought to Sheffield by musician and promoter David Barnard of DAB ||: Music.

David is himself an experienced piper, who, only this summer, was appointed Pipe Major to the City of Sheffield Pipe Band, where he is now leading a period of training and development.

This masterclass is part of a weekend residency, which includes Stewart Gardiner, one of the world’s leading side drummers.

The City of Sheffield Pipe Band has recently worked with the current High Sherif of South Yorkshire at his Summer Garden Party and continues to work alongside the South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Training Centre, supporting their cadet pass-out parades.

David will lead the band when they represent Sheffield in a special four-day March - the largest multiple day marching event in the world - taking place in Nijmeagen, The Netherlands, next summer.
