BEAT the cost of living crisis and join St Luke’s Hospice as Night Strider returns for 2022 with a new family friendly price structure!
Night Strider – sponsored by Pricecheck and Gripple - is the annual nocturnal half marathon and 10k walking challenge that this year aims to raise more than £100,000 towards patient care at Sheffield’s only hospice.
The 2019 challenge - the last before the Covid 19 pandemic put Night Strider on hold for two years - saw more than a thousand fully illuminated St Luke’s supporters take to the streets as darkness fell on the city on an October evening.
Now booking is open and already entries are coming in for Night Strider 2022, which makes its return on October 8 and promises to be the biggest and best Night Strider yet!
And to make sure everybody can join the fun and help raise vital funds for St Luke’s, the organisers have introduced a new pricing structure, including an Early Bird discount that now runs through to August 15.
Up to that date, it will cost just £5 per person to sign up - that price then rises to £15.
“We have listened to our supporters’ feedback and are very aware that many people at the moment are struggling with rising costs,” said St Luke’s Director of Income, Media and Marketing Kathryn Burkitt.
“But we very much want people to join us on what promises to be a great climax to our 50th anniversary celebrations and so we took the decision to cut the registration fee and extend the Early Bird deadline.
“Anybody who has already signed up under the original pricing structure will be hearing from us very soon and will have the option to receive a refund of the difference or donate that money to our fundraising efforts.
“And, of course, the only other thing we ask is that everybody who signs up and comes along on the night raises as much money in sponsorship as possible.”
Starting out from Sheffield’s Peace Gardens, Night Strider takes in some of Sheffield’s finest locations as it heads out towards Ecclesall and Abbeydale before heading back to the city centre finish line.
“Night Strider has become one of the best loved events in our fundraising calendar and although we held virtual versions in the past two years, there is nothing to beat the atmosphere of so many of our friends and supporters getting together with the aim of doing something very special,” said Kathryn
“Every year we find ourselves more overwhelmed than ever before by the response from our supporters and we are confident that 2022 will be our biggest and best Night Strider to date!
“After two years away, we know this year’s participants will enjoy striding together more than ever before, knowing that with every step they take they will be helping us raise the vital funds needed to ensure we can continue providing the very best care for all our patients and their families for another 50 years.
