Apr 07 2022: Vivacity Choir donation gives Lost Chord something to sing about

SOUTH Yorkshire dementia charity Lost Chord really does have something to sing about with a special gift to help launch its latest musical project.

Sheffield’s Vivacity Choir made a donation of £300 to the charity that provides vital interactive musical experiences for people living with dementia in care homes and day centres both across South Yorkshire and nationally.

The money will go towards the launch of the Lost Chord Singalong groups, a new venture by the charity as it expands its range of musical support.

Lost Chord Chief Executive Clare Langan explained: “The Singalong groups are not a choir but quite simply a group of people who come together to sing in an informal and relaxed community setting.

“The sound of music is proven to increase confidence and wellbeing and improve the mental health of people living with dementia.

“We also believe it will help promote stronger social networks in a post pandemic world.

“Our Lost Chord Singalong groups will have a catalogue of great songs to share in very relaxed settings and we know from experience that when people living with dementia hear the songs they love they will start to share and enjoy the music themselves.”
