Nov 03 2021: Westbourne pupils enjoy a visit to Sheffield Jewish Centre

PUPILS from Sheffield’s Westbourne School experienced a valuable insight into Jewish religion and culture when they visited the Sheffield Jewish Centre.

The Year Six pupils from the Broomhill independent school were greeted by Rabbi Golomb, who gave them a tour of the Psalter Lane synagogue as part of their religious education studies.

“As a non-denominational school, we believe that it is important for all of our children to learn about all world religions,” said teacher Robin Lomax.

The children were able to see the Torah, containing the first five books of the Hebrew Bible, and the Menorah, the traditional six branch Jewish lamp, and gain some understanding of their significance.

“It was a fascinating experience and a wonderful visit for all the children,” said Robin.
