Mar 23 2021: Westbourne creates a new generation of super sleuths

A DISAPPEARANCE and a string of clues that point to mystery, intrigue and even murder most foul.

You could send for Sherlock Holmes or Hercule Poirot…or you could call in the Westbourne School Murder Mystery Club.

The popular lunchtime activity at the Broomhill independent school sees pupils taking on the detective role, interviewing potential suspects and persons of interest, sifting the evidence and then naming the villain.

“Everybody loves a good crime story but there is also a very serious side to the club,” said English teacher Charlotte Smith.

“The skills the children have to utilise are all things that they learn in their
science classes and there were also valuable lessons in deduction, understanding evidence and listening to complex issues.

“As Hercule Poirot himself would say, it’s all about making the most of the little grey cells
