Feb 08 2021: Lost Chord launches trustee search

LEADING South Yorkshire dementia charity Lost Chord is looking for new faces to join its Board of Trustees.

Lost Chord is the charity that provides vital interactive musicals sessions for people living with dementia in care homes and day centres across the region and nationally.

It’s programme of events also gives important experience to its network of young professional musicians, many of whom have continued performing online for the charity throughout the pandemic lockdown.

“Lost Chord was founded in 1999, with the objective of improving the wellbeing and self-esteem of people living with Dementia and our work has grown in more than two decades, reaching out to touch the lives of people who need the sort of stimulation that only great music can give,” said the charity’s Chief Executive, Helena Muller.

“We work with highly trained professional musicians who perform, using music song and dance to help stimulate responses from those who often are unable to walk, talk, feed themselves or communicate in any way.

“To witness someone with dementia speak for the first time with music is tangible, powerful and emotional for all to see.

“We are now looking for open, inclusive and supportive individuals with an empathy with the ethos of Lost Chord and its work.

“We want to hear from people who are forward thinking, inventive, and committed, though prior trustee experience is not required.

“This is not an onerous commitment, with meetings just six to eight times in the year, but it is an opportunity to support an organisation that takes great pride in making a difference.”
