Dec 11 2020: Go online to enjoy a Roundabout Christmas concert

SOUTH Yorkshire musicians are coming together online to wish Yorkshire youth homelessness charity Roundabout a very happy Christmas.

With all public events still cancelled as the result of the Coronavirus pandemic, Roundabout’s musical supporters will be enjoying the charity’s very first virtual concert on Thursday, December 17.

Hosted by BBC Radio Sheffield presenter, Paulette Edwards, the virtual concert isn’t limited to local people – Roundabout’s recent online Quizmas event saw people joining in across the country, and organisers are hoping to have a national and even international audience to the concert.

Roundabout supporters who log in to the event will be able to enjoy a host of favourite seasonal melodies from a wide range of musicians including Sheffield Philharmonic Chorus, Rock Choir, Ben & Soph’s Jazz, Darren Newbould, Steel City Voices, Singing in Choirs, South Sheffield Tuneless Choir, Glee Bah Gum and Bel Canto.

“We know that the lead up to Christmas will be very different this year, but we’re here to spread some heart-warming joy in the form of music,” said Roundabout Chief Executive Ben Keegan.

“Join us on Thursday, December 17 at 7.30pm for our Christmas Collective, kindly sponsored by PM Property Law, where we will bring your Christmas favourites right to your living room.

“We’re very excited to be bringing some fantastic performers, musicians and choirs together from across South Yorkshire and beyond, all filmed separately and remotely and observing all government rules on proper and safe social distancing.”

The concert will be streamed on Roundabout’s JustGiving, Facebook and YouTube pages.

Registration is free and all donations  from the event will go towards supporting Roundabout’s many services across South Yorkshire, keeping vulnerable, homeless young people safe this Christmas and into the new year.
