Jun 18 2020: Create a splash and go quackers with Roundabout virtual duck race
SOUTH Yorkshire youth homelessness charity Roundabout is aiming to create a bigger splash with its latest online fundraiser…a virtual duck race!
Roundabout's fundraising and events programme has been affected by Coronavirus so the charity is hoping that everybody will be quackers about the crazy fun way to keep the charity afloat and be in with a chance to win one of 20 great prizes.
And to add a touch of star quality, the race commentator will be Pulp drummer and Roundabout supporter Nick Banks.
Standard yellow ducks - which can be individually named - cost just £2 each and participants can buy as many as they like, but up to 10 in one transaction.
For an extra £1 competitors will also be able to change the colour of their ducks and add some funky headwear, making it even easier to track their progress online as the race progresses.
The race will be broadcast on Roundabout’s social media channels at 6pm on Thursday July 23 and with interest expected to be high, the plan is to have a series of heats before the winning ducks take their place on the final finish line.
“Coronavirus has hit all our fundraising plans for the next few months but the need to raise funds so we can continue to support vulnerable young does not diminish,” said Roundabout Chief Executive Ben Keegan.
“Our virtual duck race is a fantastic way to get the whole family involved in supporting a great cause.”
