FINDING the perfect present isn’t the easiest task during the COVID-19 lockdown.
But South Yorkshire young people’s homeless charity Roundabout has come up with some gift ideas that also support a great cause.
“You can help Roundabout continue to support vulnerable young people at risk of homelessness by gifting a donation to the charity,” said the charity’s Chief Executive Ben Keegan.
“We’re sure the recipient of your gift would be delighted to know that they’re helping these young people in our region to have a brighter, safer future!
“Simply choose the amount you’d like to donate instead of a present, and we’ll provide you with a downloadable gift certificate that you can give to them instead.”
Working within current government guidelines, Roundabout is currently keeping its residential projects open and supporting over 200 young people every day, while also keeping both service users and staff safe.
A virtual gift from the charity’s list of suggestions could help make a major difference to the life of a vulnerable young person.
Just £6 could provide the ingredients needed for a cooking and baking session, teaching a young person how to shop within a budget, creating a balanced meal from scratch and encouraging experimentation to find the fun in cooking.
A £16 donation could help Roundabout to support young people who are living in properties across South Yorkshire.
By providing dedicated one-to-one sessions, young people receive personalised support to help them live independently.
And £32 could help Roundabout’s key workers as they support young people to learn new skills, address emotional issues, build confidence and self-esteem.
“A gift of hope will allow a young person to be supported to work through any difficulties they are currently facing and enable them to find their passion,” said Ben.
“At this difficult time for everybody one simple gift could make a very big difference to the young people Roundabout is supporting every day.”
