Nov 26 2014: SheffAid Christmas single supports young city homeless
SOME of Sheffield’s most popular rising musical talent is joining forces to release a Christmas single in support of city young people’s homeless charity Roundabout.
Wireless Wonderland, a Sheffield based music show, will be releasing Christmas single SheffAid: Save Our Culture to online music sharing platforms Band Camp and Youtube - complete with a festive music video – on December 1.
The song, which incorporates new twists on some Festive classics, has been put together by writers and performers Dom Kidson and Jimmy May and features local musicians Faerground Accidents, Dresden Saints, Screaming Maldini, The Ratells, Ordnance, Deaf Crows, Black Earth, Gemma Gray and Rebecca Marshall.
Proceeds will go to Roundabout, the charity that supports 150 homeless young people in Sheffield every day and has the only emergency hostel in the city for young homeless people aged 16 to 21.
Roundabout Fundraising Co-ordinator Amy Casbolt said: “We’re really grateful for the support from this event.
“At Christmas, as at every other time of the year, it is vital that we manage to maintain support for young people when they need it most.”
Said SheffAid organiser Francesca Scotrick-Boyd: “The response from Sheffield’s musical scene and the support received has been extraordinary - no-one wants to spend christmas in the cold.”
The SheffAid single will be available to download from bandcamp.com on December 1.
