Sep 26 2012: Pick up an electrical bargain at Emmaus Sheffield
HOMELESS charity Emmaus Sheffield is now selling electrical goods at its popular city second hand shop.
While many charities will not accept electrical items, Emmaus provides a full PAT Testing service, which means that goods can be approved as fit for sale at the organisation’s Sipelia Works second hand store in Cadman Street, close to Sheffield’s Canal Basin.
“We have everything from lamps, CD players, toasters and kettles through to bigger items like cookers, washers and fridges, all at really good prices,” said Emmaus Retail manager Charley Holman.
“And our fully registered PAT Testing service does mean we can ensure all our goods are fit for resale.
“Alongside the large range of furniture we always have on offer, it really does mean you can equip a new home for just a fraction of the cost you would pay on the high street.”
The only items the charity neither accepts nor sells are televisions, micro waves or unwanted computer equipment.
The Emmaus Sheffield shop is open 9am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday, with late night opening to 6.30pm on Wednesday. The store is open 9am to 4pm Saturday and 11am to 4pm Sunday.
“Emmaus Sheffield really is the place to come for all of your recycled, used and secondhand goods,” said Charley. We are very careful about the items we take in, so our customers get the very best quality used goods around.”
Emmaus is the project where people who were formerly homeless can find somewhere safe and welcoming to live and rediscover their dignity and self-pride through being part of a working community geared towards becoming self-sufficient through social enterprise.
