Jan 18 2010: Back to school for Broomhill businesses

IT’S back to the classroom for members of Broomhill’s business community as they launch a new networking group…at Westbourne School.
Sheffield’s only independent co-educational school for children aged four to 16 has joined forces with the Broomhill branch of the HSBC to create the Broomhill Business Breakfast Group.
And with more than 100 businesses in the prosperous city suburb, the organisers are confident they will have be successful in strengthening corporate and community links.
“The idea grew out of a Community Afternoon Tea which we held at the school last summer,” said Westbourne’s marketing manager Angela Bywater.
“That was such a great success that we realised there was a need for a networking group specifically in the Broomhill area.
“There are so many different businesses up here, including banks, legal, accountants, shops, hotels and even the library and this is a great opportunity for everybody to come together to discuss the economic climate and how we can support each other.”
The first meeting of the Broomhill Business Breakfast Group will be held at Westbourne School’s French Café on January 21 from 8am to 9.30am, with a charge of £5 per head.
“Our aim is to see it become at least a quarterly event,” said Angela.
“Westbourne already does quite a lot of work in the Broomhill community and this will help establish even greater links with the wider business community.”
Anybody interested in joining the group can contact Angela Bywater at the school on 0114 266 0374.
