Oct 25 2011: Lost Chord presents the sound of Christmas

The Sound of Christmas comes to Sheffield Cathedral on December 1 as dementia charity Lost Chord presents its popular annual festive concert.

Heading the musical lineup this year will be professional soprano Joanne McGahon and professional pianist Anna Tilbrook, both on tour from London, and soprano Lara Harvey.

All three have worked for Lost Chord and are committed to the idea of music helping to improve the quality of life and raising self esteem for those people living with dementia.

They will be joined by the Sheffield High School Orchestra conducted by Heidi Rolf and the Sheffield High School Chamber Choir directed by Clare Wallace, giving a varied programme of seasonal favourites.

“This is always one of our most popular events,” said Lost Chord Chief Executive Helena Muller.

“We are delighted that the extremely talented young musicians of Sheffield High School are able to join our professional musicians this year for what I am certain will be a memorable start to the Christmas season.”

The concert begins at 7.30pm and tickets cost £6 in advance or £7.50 on the door. The price includes mince pies and mulled wine.
